Healthy Hotel Cooking
A RESOURCE LIBRARY FOR HEALTHY FOOD
The Healthy Hotel Cooking Initiative helps to educate transitional hotel residents on how to prepare healthy foods while living in a hotel room without kitchenettes.
Cooking Show
Healthy Hotel Cooking is an initiative of CLT Public Relations and initially funded through a Mecklenburg County Health Department seed grant. The notion behind the project is to help educated families who are transitionally homeless and living in a hotel without kitchens on how to create healthy meals.
The Cooking Show was filmed in a hotel room with an instant pot and minimal cooking utensils. The show featured Nathanael Levinson from The Kitchen Chemist. Additional shows were filmed with a guest host at test kitchen.
The ten-episode season features 3 instant pot recipe episodes, 5 quick tips and 2 special guests episodes featuring recipes for an air-fryer and a microwave.
Please contact us if you are interested in funding season two.
Recipes
Each recipe featured on The Cooking Show can be downloaded and printed. The recipe’s ingredients are healthy, easy to find and affordable.
The recipes offer variations for cooking instructions by providing instructions for fresh, frozen or canned ingredients.
The recipes also contain detailed instructions on how to prepare the food with cutting instructions, step by step directions and safety precautions.
Starter Kits
Healthy cooking instructions and recipes are only beneficial if the individuals have the cooking utensils and appliances needed to prepare the food.
Ideally, hotel residents are provided Starter Kits upon moving into the hotel room. These starter kits can be purchased at any local home goods store.
